Episode 4: How to Turn What You Love Into A Business With Celebrity TV Personality Sal Morgan

Let me tell you. Being on the red carpet during a major event like the Golden Globes or the Oscars, in a glamorous gown with dozens of huge celebrities and Hollywood weight around you, is an insane experience. Not only are you rubbing elbows with the hugest of stars in Hollywood, as a business girl you are inches away from the very people that make things happen in the business. Forget being speechless at the sight of a starlet — it was being this close industry mover Ron Howard that took the breath out of Patricia at the Producer’s Guild Awards this year. But that’s the daily life of TV personality and journalist Sal Morgan, who boasts the #1 spot in Australia’s entertainment press. She’s had Kanye fall asleep across from her and has chatted up big names like Sandra Bullock and Britney Spears. She’s invited to the gifting suites, to all the parties so often, she turns down the goody bags. How did this Aussie-born transplant land her feet in one of the most competitive cities in the world and nab a spot on the media A-list? We had to ask!

1. Find A Point Of Difference: Do something that makes you different in the market. For Sal, changing location was how she did it.

2. Be Willing To Start Over To Get Ahead: Sometimes, a step forward can seem like a step back — don’t be afraid to go backwards to get ahead.

3. Don’t Be Afraid To Be Rejected: Don’t worry about what people will think if you ask for what you want, and don’t give up if they say no!

What are YOUR tips for turning what you love into a business? We (and the other entrepreneurs) would love to hear your insight below in the comments section!
